Accurate measurements ensure your Savile & Thread attire drapes impeccably, reflecting your personal style and stature with unparalleled precision. Key Body Measurements

The following measurements are crucial for crafting your custom garments. We recommend using a flexible, soft measuring tape and ensuring it lies flat against the body without constricting. It’s best to take these measurements while wearing lightweight clothing or undergarments.

1. Neck Circumference

Measure around the base of your neck, where a shirt collar would naturally sit. The tape should be snug but not tight. Add approximately half an inch for comfort.

2. Chest Circumference

Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest, under your armpits. Ensure the tape is level all the way around and not pulled too tight.

3. Waist Circumference

Measure around your natural waistline, which is typically the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel. For trousers, this is where the waistband will sit.

4. Hip Circumference

Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks. Ensure the tape is level and parallel to the floor.

5. Shoulder Width

Measure from the top of one shoulder bone to the top of the other shoulder bone, across the back of your neck. Try to keep the tape parallel to the floor.

6. Sleeve Length

With your arm slightly bent, measure from the shoulder bone down to where you want the cuff of your sleeve to end. Typically, this is at the wrist bone.

7. Outseam (Trouser Length)

Measure from your natural waistline (where your trousers will sit) down to the desired length of your trouser hem. It's common to measure this along the side of your leg.

8. Inseam (Trouser Leg Length)

Measure from the crotch seam down to the desired length of your trouser hem, along the inside of your leg.

9. Bicep Circumference

Measure around the fullest part of your bicep with your arm relaxed at your side.

Measure around your wrist bone. This helps determine the fit of cuffs and shirt sleeves.

Understanding Fit Preferences

Beyond precise measurements, your personal style and comfort preferences are paramount. Consider the following:

A gentle "break" in trousers refers to how the hem of the trousers falls on your shoes. This can range from no break (short) to a slight crease (medium) or a noticeable fold (full).

The 'break' of trousers is the indentation or crease formed where the trouser hem rests on the top of the shoe.

For Remote Clients

If you are ordering remotely, we highly recommend using our guided measurement service. You can book a virtual consultation with one of our expert tailors who will walk you through each measurement via video call. This ensures accuracy and allows for a personalized discussion about your garment preferences.

Alternatively, consider having a trusted friend or family member assist you. Having another person take the measurements can prevent inaccuracies that might arise from awkward angles or stretching.
